Product Questions

To LYE or not to LYE....that is the question! Yes, we do use Lye in our soapmaking process.  'Cold Process' soapmaking involves a chemical reaction (called saponification) between a strong alkali (Lye) and fatty acids (Oils). The result is pure soap & naturally occurring glycerin.  Lye is very carefully calculated to be used up in the soapmaking process.  There is no Lye left in the finished soap.

Are your products tested on animals? Not of the 4 legged variety - we test only on ourselves, and willing friends & family that fit this description!!!

What is a superfat? (Not what you're thinking).  Superfat is an extra oil or butter (most often shea or mango for us) which is added to the recipe near the end of the process & calculated to remain as an extra emollient.
